I HAVE SEEN FAR TOO MANY CHECKS AND (not balances) GRIDS AND PLAIDS AND "WINDOWPANES" AND LET ME CHECK GOOGLE FOR OTHER SUCH FASHION SYNONYMS.
OKAY.
Hi! I'm a actually a sane blogger in case I gottcha there ;o)
And, really, who is not "Mad 4 Plaid" (credit-->Forever 21, my cherished baby) this time around year where things fall. E.g. temps, fun-colored little papers off trees, but not moods! Because #FW14 was historical.
However, I thought I'd see more plain and shadier pieces for the showcase, buuuuuttt, PRINTS. Burberry stripey sort of drapey-keep-warm thingies. Street Style layering with shorts, tights, booties (ankle, not like, butts...), essential-white-classy-blouse-under-lightweight-denim-blouse with collars stylishly overlapping and statement coral gem necklaces magnificently gold-rimmed. And then the wide-fit, cutely oversized, Camel or a such shade of covet-worthy-ness, knit cardigan. Stock up. On items I have swooned over becassuussee.....You will thank me (twitter link at top of page).
Or we have The Skirt.

Or we have The Skirt.
To layer, we have only as many options as you would on a royal menu (as in, legitly, you being the prince dining with your grand mother).
All situations below are based on a high-waisted-skirt-or-longish-skirt-pulled-upwards condition.
Blouses: pastels, olive shades, sheer blood-red deep amethysts, trusty old créme, or partially
sheer, cutout-infused blacks.
Tucked in cardigans: these can be tucked in along with your opaque blouses, with the blouse buttoned-down, and the cardigan open but still stuck to your body as it is tucked inside your skirt. The cardigans can be buttoned-up to the point right at your ribs and then open to reveal a Masculin Féminin bow tied up to the final button of your sheer blouse. (I'm throwing them all at you at once, I know)
Untucked cardigans: make sure these are are not longer than the standard croptop height (thats a thing now), to balance out the high waist. Either unbuttoned or partially buttoned, they should reveal an opaquely clean/sheerly sexy blouse and an appealing bow or some sort of collar accent. And if the hem comes like a half-inch below your skirt's waistline, you are GLAM! + A crop is always tooooo chic with long sleeves!
(When bows come in shiny silk or sheer dewy chiffon, I get strangely and extremely happy)
Checkered sweaters and plaid shirts: you will feel the snuggest with all this layering. Because if you chose red, I will say go on with a black leather jacket, the fit sharp and curving, like a model's, the length wont matter this time. If you are wearing softer shades, go with a thick furry creme sweater, unclosed, and chose a cropped or a long: no difference.
However, I did chose a very special jacket for your |Céline/Célfie cropped T-shirt and black pleated midi skirt and soft pale pink clutch outfit| and that is:
Indeed something worthy of praise
To switch out to 60's really easily, which is a #FW14 trend, just add a similarly Audrey Hepburn-Ariana Grande-Cute Style inspired shoes, and sheer tights in black or white (nude won't have that girly, old-school effect.)
