Every time I tried to plan out a new hair-care routine (because my hair changes a LOT) on lined paper or Evernote, and include the "types of products I should probably get.." Yeah, that usually goes wrong.
So when my hair got totally messed up with the change of season recently, that saved my life-seriously.
I sort of didn't have preparations for the sudden effect, and just went to CVS and bought the best-looking (not graphically, but words) TRESemmé shampoo and conditioner:

These work sooooo extremely good together. Proof: I went to sleepover with my girlfriend auntie, who is really 18, so we're not much different, and I only and accidentally brought along one of these - I forgot which, but my hair was not so silky-shiny-thick-straight-and-braggable.
So yeah. And plus, the conditioner came with a sample package (including 3 fat, generously full samples) of their "7 Day Keratin Smooth System" which I have not yet tried. I will be reviewing that.
It was all to perfect not to purchase. I was even happier with my results, because as the TRESemmé People said, it "calms frizz and flyaways without weighing hair down". That explains it beautifully. My hair's volume was actually fluffed out in this runway way.

Thats another thing I used recently to perfect my hair further, by allowing the product to "strengthen, nourish, and condition" my long thick locks. Plus I feel it does straighten, moisturize, add an amazing and shiny glow, volumize (by making my hair more fatter, if you know what I mean, once you grab a portion, like you really feel it filling your hand with thick smooth strands) and make my hair even longer than the under-butt infinity it is reaching now.
Hmmm...It does sound like I'm crazy about my hair.
Oh well, then, how else do you expect me to lead others into thinking, "Damn, she robbed these extensions from a Goddess's head."
See????
Anyway. So you put this great mask on all of your hair, especially your roots, an hour before your shower. You can wear a cap, or you can just roll your hair into a tight bun, uncovered, as I do. Get in the shower. Use a shampoo, and it should come off by that rinse.
Speaking of shampoos again:

Since I know the first shampoo I use in the shower is only meant to get the oil off my hair, I don't use a fancy one. And my hair is not necessarily damaged, but I like to use this every other day (I know it says daily, but first of all, y'all know you can't use a shampoo daily, no matter how "light" it is, second, I can't wash my hair daily, cause that'll strip it of it's natural oils) so that I'll have that personal satisfaction that my hair is 100% healthy - with everything I use.
So I lather that up. Let it cleanse my head, and rinse twice. I did mention earlier not to overwash, but as your in the shower (every other day, or so) if you rinse rinse rinse, that's actually a good thing. It'll give you moisture. Just make sure you aren't using very hot water on your hair, even though I heard it makes it longer, but I also heard it gives you dandruff....
So next, I apply my TRESemmé's, leaving the conditioner on for 3 minutes and then rinsing. After that, I do everything I need for soft, cleansed, and glowing skin....(tweet me/comment below if you wanna know what).
More tips for healthy hair -->DON'T use a towel. Use an old (but still soft) T-shirt and keep you hair in it till it's not "wet" just "damp". Then do your hair into one braid, using no elastics, just at the bottom to tie up ends. Still use a soft, non-metal-at-all elastic. Your hair is at it's most fragile state when wet/damp/associated with water (LOL, my language is fantastic). And when your hair is dry, continue using elastics with no metal to prevent damage/breakage.
Also, I found that braiding my hair at this point will get it dry easily and quickly, without me having to damage it with heat. Blow-dryers add frizz to my hair and pouf it up (not in a voluminous way). So this trick will help all the water come down to your ends, and you'll just have to dab that bit of hair on a soft tee again!
But wait!!! Don't forget to brush your hair before showering!!! It really helps keep your hair untangled after and during your shower. I believe a boar-bristle brush with a rubber base works for everyone! It will really smooth and straighten hair rather than make it frizzier and ever so nasty, like certain brushes we know...(gossip is not lady-like).
Byeeeeeeeeee ;o)
