I feel like my favorite occasion to dress for (besides New Year's Eve) is a good autumn party. And for me, 'cause IDK if it goes for you, in fall I feel this weird commitment to less glitterized options - keeping it intricate with geometry and texture rather than my usual GOLD GOLD GOLD and some gems. And the best way to come out in that simple-but-eye-catchingly-chic air is to do colors! I love this particular definition of fall: Gloomy Shades. Although we don't seem to follow it's ethics all the way, it still does sound fun and challenging!
On the rare occasion in which you stylishly celebrate your occasion outside in risky weather, do indulge in a minimally embellished jacket of any kind, but I find blazers a good tool for not only Madame-ifying your silhouette but also trimming down the volume (of your upper body). It's weird that if the blazer comes a bit baggy, like just a the wrists, but hugging the upper arm, that really makes you look skinnier, but still a real girl. Just compare a picture of yourself in that to a tank top and thank me later.
The leather jacket might not be the élégant method of keeping Chicly Warm. Our quilts and tweeds can make a statement.
However, if it is a fun blow-my-head-off party, not that the more sophisticated ones are not fun, you can indirectly pull off such Young Wild and Free things:

Mix and Match Prints! YAY! I find houndstooth to be a very Autumny chintz, for some odd reason, and that with fur, stud embellishments, and burgundy velvet ankle booties, all accents in silver, and you are the Babe of Rock, if that makes sense.
Well, nothing makes sense.
Except FASHION.
Well, back to that élégant theme.

Not saying you have to be in a formal skirt and poncho-in-a-French-essence outfit, but I had to put that out for inspiration.
I know for a fact that there will be such memorable women that will pull off such memorable pieces with a menswear inspired shoe (!!!!!!!!!!!!!) or a black block heel and pearl earrings. What a monument.
But then we have the pros that don't even consider dresses and go for pants, skirt, top, and more....

As you can see here, I did up the glam for these kind of outfits, 'cause if you wanna really be in that cray, livin' the moment mood, you have to get your final touches in order. Hair in a Classic Hollywood do, clear acrylic clutch, cropped err'ything, as in, top, jacket, pants, and anything that can basically look cute cropped. But there's still the balancing out part.
That's why:

My humble theory (is that even a thing) is that parties are not really defined by their themes, place, or food. It's by the music that's on, and what people wear to really give the party it's whole situation. If everyone decided to come in Prom Glam, or just casual skirts and bustier tops, then there you go. That's what the event was basically about. If we all swayed to Lana del Rey or crazied to Eminem....
Why do we wear black to funerals? It all means something. If I feel like I should be in a sundress and cow-girl boots, its most likely I'm haedin' over to a baby shower, or somewhere of the sort. Weddings? I honestly try my best not to look better than the bride, but, um...well, that's more difficult than choosing the right dress. And no, its not the same thing.
Anyway, hope I helped you guys out, byeeeeeee ;-)
